If I get a cheap Chinese Android phone, say a Galaxy clone, will AT&T force me into a data plan like it does with American Android phones? I understand it has to do with AT&T recognizing the IMEI and forcing data plans for IMEIs of known smartphones. Will AT&T recognize the IMEI of a Chinese knock-off handset as a smartphone and require a data plan?
Also does anyone have any recommendations for Chinese Android phone that supports LTE? (I have another line with data plan I want to get a good Chinese phone for)
