Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan Files to Run for Statewide Office

ANCHORAGE - Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan says he has filed to run for another office, but won't say exactly which one.

In 2014, a couple of high profile positions will be open, including the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Mark Begich, who's also a former Anchorage mayor.

And there's the governor's seat, for which Sean Parnell has already begun his re-election campaign, as well as the lieutenant governor's seat.

Sullivan says he hasn't decided yet for which office he'll be running.

?My only plan is to essentially have options,? he told CBS 11 News. ?I'm down to two years left on this second and final term, and if I want to continue in public service, having that APOC registration out there puts an option on the table in case I want to continue serving the public, and I'm also looking at some private sector opportunities as well.?

Sullivan's term as mayor ends next year.
